Covid-19: How to take advantage of the quiet time and improve your photography business.

We, photographers, have to assume that bookings will be affected and that they may drop over the coming months. So, why not take advantage of the quiet time and spend time learning new techniques and improving your photography business.


If you’re currently experiencing a quieter period in your photography business, here you’ll discover some of the best ways to deal with it:


  • Contact all your past clients and ask for testimonials. Testimonials shouldn’t be short like “Irina was amazing, I would highly recommend her". Instead, ask specific questions and their honest experience of working with you. Read this excellent article on how to get great testimonials.

Harvard photography professor Dan Armendariz recorded all of his lectures for the Exposing Digital Photography course, and they’re now available on YouTube (videos are also hosted on the course website). As a Harvard course, this series of lectures goes beyond the how-tos and covers aspects like the science behind photography, though the course description says the overall class goal is to, of course, improve both photographic skills and understanding. This course is available online as part of the Harvard Extension School that offers a number of free courses as well as paid classes with certifications and actual college credits. The photography lectures were recorded in 2015, but the information is still current.


  • Create impactful social graphics, web pages, and short videos in minutes with Adobe Spark for FREE if you have Adobe account. Spark is available on the web and on mobile so you can create and share whenever inspiration strikes.


  • Discover how money flows in personal and business environments and develop the skills to manage your finances with this online FREE accounting and bookkeeping course from the Open University. This course is for anyone wanting an introduction to bookkeeping and financial accounting. It might be of particular interest to small business owners, people who are self-employed or those wanting to better manage their own finance. You don’t need any previous experience.
