Do you remember Little Heart Warriors?
Last year Rhona and I set up a Facebook page Little Hear Warriors to create the thank you photo collage as a very special thank you to the staff and volunteers of the Children’s Heart Centre in Our Ladies Hospital Crumlin.
The idea was brought to life by celebrity make-up artist Rhona Cullinan from Dublin. Rhona’s little daughter Molly Johnson (2 years old now) has already undergone two open-heart surgeries, while my little boy Leo Duane (10 months now) had his first open heart surgery at just 4 days old. As a parents of heart children we simply wanted to thank all staff for their amazing job!
Over a number of weeks, I took photographs of all the children in the project. In a series of shoots in my studio in Dungarvan and then in Dublin, I captured beautiful images of 72 Little Heart Warriors. Rhona was busy engaging with parents, liaising with the printers and framers, and organising all of the activities for the Little Heart Warriors family day.
Little Heart Warriors Ireland have created a thank you photo collage that will include images and personal thank you messages of children aged between two months to 12 years old with a congenital heart defect (CHD), who were cared for at the Children’s Heart Centre in Our Ladies Hospital Crumlin.
The collage was revealed on Sunday, April 7th 2018 to the parents of the children for the first time as well as a presentation to the hospital in a special event at Palmerstown House Estate in Johnstown, Co Kildare and later delivered and installed in Heart Center in Crumlin.

I'm very happy to announce that this year The Heart Children Ireland is collaborating with Little Heart Warriors to create their annual calendar 2019.
Heart Children Ireland is a registered charity and support group for parents and families of children with a Congenital Heart Disorder. Over the last 26 years they have raised over €2.5m euro for the cardiac unit in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.
Heart Children Ireland will be using the images of 55 Children that were photographed for a beautiful frame that hangs on the wall of the Heart Centre in Our Lady’s hospital Crumlin.
The calendar plays an important role in the fundraising for the charity. All funds raised go directly to the charity and will assist in funding important services.
A big thank you to Chill Insurance for sponsoring it and Naoise Clarke for designing the calendar.
